LOOKOUT, MT., Ga. (Nov. 20, 2013) – Behind a 54.3 field goal percentage, regional-rival Covenant College defeated the Sewanee men's basketball team, 73-55, Wednesday, inside the Barnes Physical Education Center.

After both teams made early runs, the Tigers (2-1) led 11-10 when sophomore Leo Born made a free throw with 15:39 left in the first half. After jumper by the Scots, junior Robert Veal hit a jumper on the ensuing possession to give the Tigers another one-point lead, 13-12.

Unfortunately, that would be the final time all evening that Sewanee held an advantage. Covenant closed the half on a 20-8 spurt.

Out of the locker room, the Scots extended their lead further. A three by Colton McGriff, and back-to-back scores from Chris Boyd, pushed Covenant's lead to 17, 38-21, with 17:58 to play.

Throughout the remainder of the game, Sewanee played hard. However, each time the Tigers made a run, Covenant answered. Down the stretch, the Scots made 11-out-12 free throws to ice the game.

Sewanee was limited to a 32.8 field goal percentage, which included a 4-of-25 effort from behind the three-point arc. The Tigers did outrebound the Scots, 37-29. That statistic included 14 offensive boards.

Individually, freshman Jorden Williams finished with a career-high 23 points. Additionally, Born added 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

McGriff led a deep Covenant roster with 19 points and seven rebounds. Guard Micah Turner also pitched in 10 points for the Scots.
