Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 20, 2013) – A 19-0 run to start the game helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Oglethorpe down the Sewanee men's basketball team, 78-62, Sunday inside Juhan Gymnasium.
After the Tigers fell behind early, Sewanee finally got on the board when freshman Nilan Hodge hit a jumper with 11:01 left until halftime.
Unfortunately, by that time, Oglethorpe was red-hot from the floor. OU made 43.3 percent of its attempts before the break, which helped fight off any offensive spurts by Sewanee.
Despite its tough start, Sewanee played better out of the locker room. In the second half, the Tigers outscored the Stormy Petrels 46-42.
Overall, Sewanee finished 23-of-58 (39.7 percent) from the field.
Individually, freshman Keshonn Carter led the offense with a team-high 12 points. Senior Tyler Brown and Hodge each finished with 11 points.
In fact, Hodge's total tied a career-high (Emory & Henry, Nov. 27th) for the first-year guard.
Forward Jordan Kinney led three OU players in double figures with a game-high 20 points.
Sewanee will look to bounce back with an 8:00 p.m., contest against regional-rival Covenant, Tuesday.
