Sewanee drops first home match against Berry

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 14, 2012) – The Sewanee volleyball team could not overcome a quick start by Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Berry, as the Tigers dropped their home opener 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-23).

Individually, the Tigers were led by Caroline Montgomery, who finished with a team-high three kills. Defensively, Sewanee was paced by Jamie Kosman. The freshman defensive specialist led Sewanee with 16 digs. 

Junior Stephanie Quinn and freshman Emily Stromberg paced a strong Berry attack. Quinn finished with 38 assists, nine digs, and six kills, while Stromberg totaled 13 kills and nine digs.

The Tigers will quickly return to action Saturday, against Oglethorpe. That match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m., inside Juhan Gymnasium.
