SEWANEE, Tenn. 4/14/12 – Paced by the hot hitting of senior
Ryne Sullivan, the Sewanee Tigers pounded the Centre Colonels 26-10 in the first game of an SCAC doubleheader played at Montgomery Field in Sewanee today. The Colonels rebounded to take the second game by a score of 11-3 to earn the doubleheader split.
Sullivan drove in nine runs with two homeruns, a double and a single in the first game and continued his torrid pace with three doubles and two more RBI in the nightcap, giving him eleven RBI in the doubleheader.
Lee Schurlknight (2-5) picked up his second win of the season in the opener. Schurlknight worked six innings allowing ten runs on ten hits.
Sullivan led the way with a 4-for-
5 effort at the plate, while
Jack Whaley picked up three hits including a grand slam homerun, his first career homer.
Connor Liston chipped in two hits to the Tiger 18-hit attack.
In the second game of the day,
Jacob Simpson (2-5) was charged with the loss on the mound. Simpson lasted six innings giving up six runs on nine hits.
Sullivan led the 10-hit Sewanee attack with three doubles, while
Scott Ward picked up two hits.
Sewanee moves to 14-18 on the season and 3-8 in SCAC play.
The Tigers and the Colonels will wrap up their three-game SCAC series tomorrow with a single game scheduled for 1:00 pm at Montgomery Field.
