CONWAY, Ark. (March 23, 2012) – The Sewanee men's lacrosse team opened SCAC play in strong fashion, as the Tigers rolled past Hendrix 15-5 Friday afternoon, at Warrior Field.
With the win, Sewanee improves to 6-2 overall. The Tigers have also won four consecutive matches and five out of their last six contests.
Sewanee wasted little time as the Tigers outscored Hendrix 6-0 in the first period. After Alex Wilkinson finally got the Warriors on the board, Sewanee responded with two more goals from Jack Thomasson and Pierce Leonard.
In the second half, the Sewanee offense stayed hot. Sewanee scored the first four goals of the third period, which gave the Tigers a 12-2 advantage.
Charlie Jackson then added two goals while James Millard ended the scoring off a Michael Morris assist.
As a team, Sewanee put up a season-high 49 shots. Individually, Thomasson led Sewanee with five goals and four assists. Leonard, Reed Daniel (two), Morris, Jackson (two), Millard, Lincoln Leahy, Rob Finnegan, and Thomas Moore also scored for Sewanee.
Additionally, Morris had a season-high seven assists while goalkeepers Tommy Healy and Spencer Graves combined for 12 saves.
The Tigers will continue their three game road trip with a noon contest Sunday at Colorado College.
