SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 17, 2012) – Led by
Reed Daniel,
Michael Morris, and
Tommy Healy, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team defeated Berry College (Ga.) 6-4 Saturday afternoon, at Puett Field.
With the win, Sewanee improved to 5-2 overall. The Tigers also wrapped up their five-match homestand with a 4-1 record.
Behind goals from
Davis Brown,
Rob Finnegan and two from Daniel, Sewanee led 4-0 after the first period.
As second period action got underway, the Tigers continued to play well offensively. Morris added to the Tigers' advantage when he scored his first goal with 13:50 left. After two Berry goals, Morris was at it again when he netted another goal with 5:26 to go.
In the second half, neither team found a lot of offense. Berry added two late goals, after a Sewanee foul and a turnover by the Tigers at midfield.
On defense,
Tommy Healy played well with a number of key saves. The sophomore goalkeeper stopped 12 shots, including five in the second half.
Sewanee will now take its three game winning streak on the road against SCAC foe Hendrix. The Tigers and Warriors will faceoff March 23 at noon.
