SEWANEE, Tenn. 3/11/12 – The Birmingham Southern Panthers completed a three-game SCAC series sweep with a 16-4 win over the Sewanee Tigers today at Montgomery Field in Sewanee.
With the loss the Tigers fall to 3-8 on the season and 0-3 in SCAC play.
Birmingham Southern raced out to a 16-0 lead before the Tigers could get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman
Grant Goodson led off the inning with a single to centerfield, his second hit of the game. Pinch hitter
Charlie Hughes reached first base on an error by the Panther second baseman.
Connor Liston then singled home Goodson for Sewanee's first run.
Ryne Sullivan's base hit loaded the bases. Hughes scored on a ground out to shortstop by
Blake Williams. Freshman
Blake Bays lined a single to right center plating Liston and Sullivan to make the score 16-4.
Charles Warren was the starting and losing pitcher for the Tigers.
Goodson led the eight-hit Sewanee attack with a pair of singles.

Sewanee will return to action on Thursday when they square off with Rust College in a doubleheader in Holly Springs, Miss.
