SEWANEE, Tenn. 3/10/12 – The Sewanee Tigers were swept by the Birmingham Southern Panthers today in an SCAC doubleheader played at Montgomery Field in Sewanee. The Panthers shut out Sewanee 4-0 in the opener and came out on top 5-1 in the second game.
In the first game of the twin bill, Sewanee was limited to only six hits by Panther starter Blake Stevens.
Alan Komorowski picked up two hits including a double.
Connor Liston,
Allen Thigpen,
John Rafferty and
Will Cook had one hit each.
Lee Schurlknight suffered the loss on the mound for the Tigers working six innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits.
In the nightcap, the Tigers jumped to an early 1-0 lead after one inning, but that was all the offense they could muster on the 5-1 loss. Komorowski led off the inning with a triple and was chased home on an RBI single by
James Snover.

Jack Whaley led the Sewanee nine-hit attack with two hits each.

Jacob Simpson was the losing pitcher in the second game.
The Tigers fall to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in SCAC play.
Sewanee and Birmingham Southern will wrap up the three-game series tomorrow with a single game scheduled to begin at noon at Montgomery Field.
