NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2012) – The Sewanee men's lacrosse team dropped a close 9-8 contest Saturday, after Wittenberg rallied with late goals in the third and fourth quarters on the campus of Montgomery Bell Academy (MBA) in Nashville, Tenn.
After both teams headed into the locker room tied 3-3, Sewanee came out hot to start the second half. After each team scored once, the Tigers went up 5-4 when
Jack Thomasson scored the first of his two goals in the third. Moments later,
Pierce Leonard added to the Tiger total with an impressive shot.
Sewanee then went up 8-4 when
Michael Morris fired home a one-timer from Leonard.
Unfortunately, Sewanee led by only two at the end of the quarter when Wittenberg added two late goals.
In the final quarter, Wittenberg added three more scores, including the game-winner from Andrew Morrison with 1:45 left.
Individually, Thomasson led the Tigers with three scores and an assist.
Davis Brown and Leonard were the other two players with multiple goals. Defensively, goalkeeper
Spencer Graves finished with eight saves.
Sewanee returns to action with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Ferrum College, February 29
th in Sewanee.
