Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Dec. 7, 2012) – The Sewanee men's basketball team led early and often en route to a 97-57 win over Boyce College, Friday, to open the Lon Varnell Classic inside Juhan Gymnasium.
The Tigers (4-2) opened the game on a 30-8 run over the first nine minutes.
Sewanee eventually went up 58-29 by halftime. In the second half, things did not change much.
The Tigers pushed their advantage to 78-47 when Tyler Brown hit a jumper with 10:31 to play.
Moments later, Sewanee closed the game on a 16-7 run.
The Tigers finished with a season-high 56.7 field goal percentage. That total included an 80.8 percent mark in the first half.
Additionally, Sewanee was red-hot from outside the three-point line. After hitting 76.9 percent of their attempts in the first half, the Tigers settled for a 13-of-30 effort overall.
Individually, senior Brett Bouldin led 15 Sewanee players with a team-high 17 points. Additionally, Lewis Affronti pitched in 14 points while Nilan Hodge, Seth Brown, and Tyler Brown each added 10.
Guard Eric Farley paced Boyce with a game-high 21 points.
The Tigers will quickly return to action with a 4:00 p.m., contest against Toccoa Falls, Saturday.
