DANVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2011) – Continuing its five-match road trip to start the season the Sewanee field hockey team fell 5-0 Friday night at SCAC rival Centre College at Farris Stadium in Danville, Ky
With the loss Sewanee evened its record to 2-2 including a 0-1 record in SCAC action, while the Colonels improved to 4-3 with a 1-0 mark in league play.
"Our lack of game experience so far this season really showed tonight,” said head coach
Michele Dombrowski. “We had some nice plays and moments throughout the game, but need to work on stringing them together consistently."
Centre got a pair of first half goals from sophomore Chelsea Klein, while teammates Sydney White and Courtney Kuiper added two scores in the second half.
Overall, both squads fired 16 shots, with Sewanee holding a slight edge in corners 6-4.
The Tigers will look to get back in the win column as they return to action Saturday at Bellarmine Univeristy.
