Strong first half powers Tigers past Hendrix, 10-6

The Sewanee Men's Lacrosse team used a strong first half performance over SCAC opponent Hendrix to claim their third straight conference victory. The Tigers led by a score of 7-1 at halftime, and scored three more insurance goals in the fourth quarter to top Hendrix by a score of 10-6.

Sewanee freshmen Davis Brown and Hobey Jiranek, along with senior Hank Gerrity, scored unassisted goals in the first quarter to put Sewanee up 3-0. Freshman Michael Morris scored at the start of the second and junior Jack Thomasson followed with two additional goals. Sophomore Drew Lincoln capped off the seven goal run with by scoring with 2:30 left in the second quarter.

Hendrix scored the only two goals of the third quarter, but Sewanee responded in the fourth with goals by sophomore Carson Pfiefer, Morris, and Brown to seal the victory. Sewanee goalie Tommy Healy finished the night with 11 stops and sophomore Thomas Moore picked up six groundballs for the Tigers. Sewanee recorded 37 shots in the game and held Hendrix to 0-5 on their extra man opportunities.

Sewanee's record stands at 5-6 overall and 4-1 in conference. They take the field again on Sunday, April 10^th, against Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. Game time is 12:00 P.M.
