Box Score
Thanks to an early start and a late surge, the Sewanee
Men's Lacrosse Team notched a 15-6 victory over the hosts
from Berry College. Eight players scored for Sewanee in the
contest, and the Tigers dominated faceoffs by going
19-25. The Vikings were outshot by the Tigers 41-22, and were
0-2 in extra man opportunities while Sewanee went 1-1.
Sewanee scored the first five goals of the game, and the only
goals in the first quarter, to take an early lead. Freshman
Reed Daniel, sophomore
Drew Lincoln, sophomore
Thomas Moore, and
junior
Jack Thomasson started the Tigers out with unassisted goals,
followed by a goal from freshman
Michael Morris off an assist by
Daniel. Berry scored five of the next six goals to close the
deficit to one, which would be the closest they would come to tying
the game.
Morris, Daniel, and Brown scored the last three goals of the
half to give them some breathing room against the Vikings, and
Moore scored the only goal of the third quarter for
Sewanee. Berry netted the first goal of the fourth quarter,
but sophomore
Carson Pfiefer, senior
Will Grimes, Lincoln, and
Morris all recorded goals to seal the victory.
The Tigers dominated the Vikings in virtually every
statistical category, outshooting the hosts 41-22. The Tigers
picked up 51 ground balls and won 19 of the 25
faceoffs. Senior
Teddy Peterson picked up 17 ground balls for
Sewanee and was 18 for 23 on faceoffs. Pfiefer and Morris led
the Tigers with 3 goals apiece, and freshman goalie Tommy
Healy was awarded the win in goal with seven
saves.
The Tigers finish their season 7-8 overall and 5-2 in the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
