Birmingham-Southern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after
scoring twice within seven seconds in the first
quarter. Trailing 3-0 in the first, Sewanee got on the board
with a goal from Morris, assisted by senior Teddy
Peterson. Down by a score of 7-1 starting the second quarter,
Brown notched the first goal of the second quarter just 21 seconds
in. The Panthers responded with a goal from Ryan Croft, and
Sewanee's Morris answered back with his second goal of the
game off a pass from sophomore
Thomas Moore. Sewanee cut
Birmingham-Southern's lead to four with consecutive goals
from Lincoln and Morris to end the first half.
Sewanee came out strong in the second half with an unassisted
goal from Thomasson, followed by a goal from Shelton. Sewanee
cut their deficit to one with another Thomasson goal, but the
Panthers rattled off another three straight goals before Thomasson
stepped up again to score off a Peterson
assist. Birmingham-Southern netted two more goals to go into
the final quarter up 14-9.
The fourth quarter was scoreless until Sewanee's Gerrity
put one past Panther goalkeeper Tim Trockenbrot with 7:43 left on
the clock. The Panthers capped off the game by scoring the
final two goals of the contest, including one with just a second
left on the clock.
This was the final game at Puett Field for Sewanee seniors

Teddy Peterson. The Tigers are now 6-7 overall and 5-2 in
conference. They are in third place going into the inaugural
SCAC tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo. They will get a
rematch of tonight's game as they take on the second seeded
Panthers on Saturday, April 23
rd at 7:30 p.m.
