SEWANEE, Tenn. The Sewanee Tigers suffered a doubleheader loss at the hands of the Rhodes Lynx at a wind-swept Montgomery Field today in Sewanee. Rhodes squeaked by in game one by the score of 2-1 and won the second game 15-1.
With the pair of losses, the Tigers fall to 10-20 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
Jacob Simpson was the hard luck losing pitcher in the Tigers 2-1 loss in the opener. Simpson scattered four hits and allowed two earned runs en route to the complete game effort.
In the second game of the twinbill, Komorowski's steal of home in the bottom of the first inning gave Sewanee a 1-0 lead. The Lynx then scored fifteen unanswered runs over the next eight innings to take the 15-1 victory over the Tigers.
Sewanee managed only three hits in the contest.
Taylor Irwin, Rogers and Nealy each had singles.
Tiger starter
Lee Schurlknight was the losing pitcher working 4.2 innings while allowing seven runs, all earned, on six hits.
The Tigers will close the 2011 season tomorrow when they face Rhodes in a single game scheduled to begin at 1 pm.
