Centre Comes from Behind to Edge Tigers 10-7

DANVILLE, Ky.
4/10/11 – The Centre Colonels rallied from a six-run deficit to nip the Sewanee Tigers 10-7 in SCAC baseball play today in Danville.
 
Highlighted by a three-run homerun by Taylor Irwin in a five-run third inning and an RBI double by Joe Reilly in the fourth, Sewanee jumped to a 6-0 lead. The Colonels tied the score with a six-run fourth inning. Three unanswered runs by the Colonels in the fifth and sixth innings earned them the conference win over the Tigers.
 
Reilly led the Tigers at the plate with a 4-for-5 effort including two doubles and two RBI. Irwin and Franklin Pogue each contributed two hits. Irwin had four RBI and Pogue chipped in one.
 
Chris Mauro was charged with the loss on the mound in relief of starting pitcher Irwin.
 
Sewanee's record drops to 10-17 overall and 0-8 in SCAC action.
 
The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Atlanta, Ga. to play Emory University. Game time is 3 pm EDST.
