Thomasson scores twice as Tigers fall to Colorado College

Box Score The Sewanee Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 12-5 decision to Colorado College in their SCAC opener.  Colorado College, the defending SCAC champions, got off to a fast start by scoring four unanswered goals.  Thanks to goals by junior Jack Thomasson (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's Belfied), senior Will Grimes (Marietta, Ga., Harrison High School) and sophomore Marty Johnson (Charlotte, N.C., Charlotte Catholic), Sewanee cut the deficit to one goal during the second period.  Colorado College answered with another eight goals to Sewanee's two to seal the victory.  

Thomasson was Sewanee's high scorer in the contest with two goals. Freshman Reed Daniel (Houston, Texas, St. John's School), Grimes and Johnson each scored a goal.  Sewanee was 9 of 21 on faceoffs, had 27 total shots, and picked up 32 groundballs during the course of the game.

With the loss, Sewanee drops to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.  Colorado College starts off their conference play at 1-0 and is 3-0 overall.  Sewanee returns to Puett Field tomorrow to take on Southwestern.  Game time is 11 A.M.
