SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Oct. 8, 2011) – In its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road game of the season, the Sewanee football team could not overcome a strong start by No. 18 Trinity as the TU defeated UofS, 27-9, Saturday, at Trinity Stadium.
Facing one of the toughest defenses in the country, the Tigers offense struggled early on, after going four-and-out on its first two possessions.

After getting the ball back, the Tigers drove 36 yards on 13 plays, where place kicker Garrett Schlosser added his first field goal of the game, with 6:32 remaining in the half.
Unfortunately, for Sewanee, Trinity quickly responded with a 11-play 79-yard drive of its own. On its possession, Trinity quarterback Nyk McKissic went 4-for-4 on the drive, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to receiver Desmond King, giving TU a 10-3 lead at the half.
After Trinity extended its lead to 13-3 in the third quarter, the Tigers add to their advantage to start the fourth. McKissic found King again with a 36-yard strike with 10:04 to play in the game.
With score at, 20-3, Trinity continued its offensive outbreak after taking advantage of a Sewanee fumble two plays into its drive. TU returned the fumble to the Sewanee three yard line, where tailback Pat Granchelli found the endzone a play later, for his only touchdown of the day.
Sewanee's offense finally got on track, as sophomore quarterback
Curtis Johnson found slotback Chuck Winfield for a 39-yard touchdown pass to close out the scores.
Overall, Sewanee's offense failed to reach the 200 yard rushing mark for the second straight week. At the same time, one of the biggest differences in the game was Trinity's ability to score on each of its trips inside the red-zone (4-for-4).

Zeke Wilson led all Sewanee running backs with 43 yards on five carriers, while sophomore
Dave McKeithen had a game-high 11 tackles at his linebacker position.
