ATLANTA (Oct. 30, 2011) – With its biggest offense output of the season the Sewanee women's soccer team breezed past Oglethorpe 7-2 Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.
After jumping out to a 3-0 lead by halftime, Sewanee added four more goals in the second period, giving the Tigers their seventh win of the season.
Sewanee got earned scores by Bess Goodman, Jamie Samociuk and Allie White. After taking a commanding lead into the half, the Tigers continued their offensive explosion when Bobbe Chaffin scored three goals for her first career hat trick. Senior Faith Spencer also added one more goal for Sewanee in the 85th minute.
Overall, Sewanee got a season-high 31 shots including 17 attempts in the second-half.
With its win on Sunday the Tigers earned the sixth-seed in the upcoming SCAC Conference Tournament at Birmingham-Southern. In their first match of the tournament the Tigers will take on third-seeded Centre at 2:30 p.m. on Friday November 4th.
