Sewanee fails to overcome quick goals by BSC

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 28, 2011) Four first half goals, including two in the opening 10 minutes, proved to be too much as the Sewanee women's soccer team fell 4-1 to SCAC rival Birmingham-Southern Friday night the BSC Soccer Complex.

With the loss Sewanee drops to 5-10-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference action.

After giving up scores to the Panthers' Linda Amaya and Alicia Plotky to open the match, Sewanee finally showed some life of its own after senior Kabler Colhoun converted a pass from classmate Faith Spence in the 21st minute of action.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, after cutting the BSC lead to 2-1 the Panthers rebounded with two more goals in the opening frame after Jamie Sullivan and Amanda Babbin fired home scores the last eight minutes of the half.

Overall, BSC led the offensive statistics after outshooting Sewanee by a 14-8 mark.

Sewanee will close out its 2011 regular season as the Tigers take on league foe Oglethorpe, with a noon match, Sunday.
