Box Score: Sewanee vs. Transylvania
SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2011) – In her final match on Sewanee's campus senior field hockey player
Elise Landau went out in style as the forward scored a pair of first half goals, which led the Tigers to a 2-0 win over Transylvania Saturday.
As play opened Sewanee got on the board first after
Mary Kate McAlister sent a pass inside the circle, where
Karen Dawson found Landau for the opening goal of the match.
Sewanee continued to attack the Pioneers later in the period as Landau found the back of the cage for the second time off a
Sydney Philpott corner in the 23
rd minute.
The Tigers continued to put pressure on the Pioneers throughout the second half, however Transy keeper Sara Ascohbacher stopped all eight attempts that Sewanee put on goal.
Overall, Sewanee dominated the offensive statistics after outshooting Transy 24-12. The Tigers also held a 15-9 edge in penalty corners.
On her special day Landau finished the contest with a game-high eight shots, while junior goalkeeper
Anna Morrow posted her second shutout of the season after obstructing all four attempts by the Pioneers. Ironically, Morrow's last shutout came in the Tigers 3-0 win against Transylvania, September 17
th.
The Tigers will now return to SCAC play starting with a 3:00 p.m. match next Friday at Hendrix.
