WINTER HAVEN, Fla. 3/14/10 – The Sewanee Tigers defeated Gallaudet University 17-8 today at the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla. It was the Tigers' fourth win in their last five games.
Connor Liston (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Episcopal) continued to swing a hot bat for Sewanee as he went 4-for-6 with a double and five RBI. Liston now has nine hits during the Tigers' current three-game winning streak. Joe Reilly (Milton, Ga., Mt. Pisgah) had three hits including two doubles and a triple and Franklin Pogue (Nashville, Tenn., Father Ryan) chipped in with a double, a triple and four RBI.
Freshman Chase Riemer (Chattanooga, Ga., Baylor) struck out ten Gallaudet batters and was credited with the win working six innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
Sewanee is now 4-8 on the season and will return to action tomorrow in Winter Haven when they face Hamilton College at 10 am.
