SAN ANTONIO, Tex. 11/6/10 – The Sewanee Tigers were eliminated from the SCAC championship volleyball tournament today when they were defeated by the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-17, 25-14).
After dropping the first set to Oglethorpe and trailing 22-14 in the second set, the Tigers went on a 12-2 run sparked by three kills by Liz Boddiford (Forest Hill, Md., Maryvale Prep) to take the set 26-24 in come-from-behind fashion. Oglethorpe rebounded to take the next two sets and the 3-1 victory.
Boddiford led Sewanee with eleven kills closely followed by Adrienne Borchardt (New Orleans, La., Ben Franklin) with ten. Erin Brahm (Huntsville, Ala., Grissom) paced the Tigers with 27 assists and three blocks. Tarver Shimek (Towson, Md., Towson) chipped in ten digs. Brahm, Borchardt and Shimek each had two service aces.
The Tigers complete the 2010 season with a 2-34 record.
