SEWANEE, Tenn. -- In Sewanee Sunday, the Panthers of Birmingham Southern took a 75-61 SCAC men's basketball win from Sewanee. In the first half, BSC got out to a 20-4 lead, but Sewanee went on a 28-13 run to pull within one at the halftime break. The Panthers pulled away again in the second, though, and got the 14-point win.
Zack Mulligan (Lynchburg, Va., VES) highlighted the Sewanee effort with 18 points, including a perfect 4-4 record from behind the three-point line.
Lewis Affronti (Virginia Beach, Va., Norfolk Academy) was also in double digits with 11 points. Blaise White led Birmingham-Southern with 18 points as well. The Panthers had the edge in field goal percentage, but Sewanee outdid the black and gold visitors in rebounding and three-point percentage.
Sewanee is now 3-8 and 0-3 in the SCAC and BSC is now 9-1 (2-1). The Tigers will play at DePauw and Centre next weekend in SCAC play.
