Greensboro, N.C. – Sewanee played at Greensboro on Saturday and after trailing 10-2 at the half, fell 13-4. Sewanee rallied late, outscoring Greensboro 2-0 in the fourth quarter, but it was too late and the Pride got the nine-goal win.
Will Grimes (Marietta, Ga., Harrison HS) led Sewanee with two goals. Hank Gerrity (Cumberland, Maine, North Yarmouth Academy) had a goal and two assists. Goalie Stewart Calder (New Canaan, Conn., New Canaan HS) logged 10 saves on the day. Brad Gesser led the Pride with four goals. Mike Foderaro had eight saves in goal for GC.
Greensboro outshot Sewanee 37-20 and picked up 28 ground balls compared to just 17 for Sewanee. The Pride turned the ball over 21 times and Sewanee 17. The Tigers capitalized on two of four extra man opportunities and Greensboro only got one power play goal.
Sewanee is now 0-6 and will play at Washington and Lee on March 18. Greensboro is now 5-1.
