Sewanee Men's Basketball Tops at Rhodes Tourney

Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Sewanee men's basketball team played this weekend at the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic and after day two, was the only unbeaten team with a 2-0 record. After an OT thriller win against Earlham on Friday, the Tigers topped Principia 73-63 after leading 34-30 at the half.

Newcomer Andrew Little (Charlotte, N. C., Southlake Christian) led Sewanee with 18 points on the day. Zack Mulligan (Lynchburg, Va., VES) was also in double digits with 10 points. Sam Martin (Ringgold, Ga., Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe) led the Tiger rebounding effort with eight. Mulligan had seven assists.

As a team, Sewanee was 45% accurate from the field, while Principia made 47% of its field goals. Sewanee had 23 assists on the day and only 11 turnovers. From behind the three-point arc, the Tigers were 42% accurate compared to a 36% three-point percentage for Principia.

Sewanee is now 3-1 so far in 2009 and will host Tennessee Temple on Tuesday night before opening SCAC play against Oglethorpe on the Mountain next Saturday.
