SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee held up early against Piedmont in
the first half of tonight's DIII men's basketball game,
going into the locker room trailing 43-41 at the half. Piedmont
pulled out in the second, though, and topped Sewanee 87-70 in the
end. Sewanee senior Kenton Coleman (Ridgetop, Tenn.,
Greenbrier) scored more than a third of the Tiger points,
logging a season and career high 25 points on the night. He shot an
even .500 with a tally of 9-18 from the field.
Garrett Hollingsworth (Roanoke, Va., North Cross)
earned a double-double for Sewanee with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Bradley Pierson (Rome, Ga., Darlington) was also
in double digits for the Tigers with 13 points. He leads the Tigers
with a 17 point per game average. J.C. Herebia led the host Lions
with 23 points.
Both teams hit the 50% mark from the field, with Sewanee being
even at 28-56, while Piedmont hit 57% of its field goals. Sewanee
out-rebounded Piedmont 30-25. Both teams hit five three-pointers on
the night.
Sewanee falls to 4-13 and will host Austin and Colorado Colleges
this weekend. Piedmont is 8-11 so far this season and will play
Maryville College on Saturday.
