SAN ANTONIO – Sewanee played at \#10 Trinity on Friday night
and the host Tigers topped the visiting Tigers 55-40 after leading
29-17 at the half. Sewanee led briefly four minutes into the game,
but Trinity rallied and ended up earning the 15-point win.
Seniors duo Ben Pursell (Franklin, Tenn., BGA) and
Bradley Pierson (Rome, Ga., Darlington) led Sewanee with
11 points and 10 points. The pair is averaging 21 points per game -
good for a third of all Tiger points this season. Pierson also led
with eight rebounds and Pursell grabbed six. BJ Moon led Trinity
with 16 points.
Sewanee and Trinity were both 37% good from the field, while
Sewanee had the edge in three-pointers, going 9-18 (.500). Trinity
was 34% accurate from behind the line. Trinity out-rebounded
Sewanee 37-28. Sewanee turned the ball over 20 times, compared to
13 for host Trinity.
Sewanee is currently 4-11 and 2-5 in the SCAC. The Tigers will
play at Southwestern tomorrow night. The 10th-ranked Trinity Tigers
are 15-0 and 7-0 in the league.
