ATLANTA – Sewanee played at SCAC foe Oglethorpe on Saturday
night and the host Stormy Petrels increased its seven-point lead at
the half to nine for the 83-74 win over the visiting Tigers.
Sewanee made better than half of its field goals, but Oglethorpe
came in with a 60% field goal percentage. Sewanee out-rebounded
Oglethorpe 28-19 and both teams were 47% good from behind the
three-point line.
Seniors Bradley Pierson (Rome, Ga., Darlington) and
Ben Pursell (Franklin, Tenn., BGA) led Sewanee's
effort with 23 and 21 points. Pursell led with nine rebounds.
Newcomer Trent Williams (Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Lawrence
County) also had a double digit performance with 12 points.
David Allison led Oglethorpe with 22 points.
The Sewanee men are 3-9 and are currently 1-3 in the league.
Oglethorpe is 10-3 so far. Both teams will host Millsaps and
Hendrix next weekend in SCAC play.
