SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee rallied Sunday after a tough SCAC loss on Friday to beat Rhodes 3-1 in SCAC field hockey action. Sewanee got up 2-0 in the first half and then went up one more before Rhodes got a late goal to finalize the 3-1 score.
In the first half, seniors
Lynn Hancock (Paris, Ky., Foxcroft) and
Claiborne Buckingham (Richmond, Va., Collegiate) scored goals on
Taylor Skeen (Baltimore, Md., Towson) and
Caroline Carlin (Gladwyne, Penn., Country Day) assists. In the second period, Carlin scored one of her own before Rhodes' Charlie Wagner scored Rhodes goal.
Sewanee took eight shots on the day compared to Rhodes' 10 and Sewanee goalie
Clarkie Crawford (Louisville, Ky., Collegiate) had three saves. Rhodes logged four goalkeeper saves ont he day with different goalies.
Sewanee moves to 5-3 on the year and is 2-2 in the league. The Tigers will face Transylvania and a Missouri club team next weekend.
