SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Rhodes College women's soccer team, currently ranked 12th for Division III team, came tot he Mountain Sunday and was handed a 3-0 SCAC shutout.
The match remained scoreless until the 42nd minute, when
Cat Ariail (Clarkesville, Ga., Habersham Central) scored Sewanee's first goal on a
Kabler Colhoun (Winston-Salem, N.C., Mount Taber) assist, taking the match into the intermission at 1-0 in favor of the Tigers. Sewanee played tough in the second half, too, and added some insurance on
Evey Gannaway (Collierville, Tenn., Collierville)and
Faith Spencer (New York, N.Y., Hotchkiss) goals, securing the final tally of 3-0 in favor of Sewanee. Spencer had the assist on Gannaway's goal, also.
Sewanee outshot the Lynx 13-10 and took two corner kicks, compared to five for Sewanee. In goal,
Virginia Zakas (Atlanta, Ga., Westminster) had four saves and Becca Clarin had six for Rhodes.
Dylan Harrison's Tigers are 5-2-1 so far and is 3-1 in the SCAC so far. Today's win marked the first time this year that the \#12 Lynx have been beaten by a Division III team.
