BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sewanee faced Dallas in the noon game of
the Birmingham-Southern Black Tie Classic and jumped out to an
early 7-0 lead before going into the halftime break with a 29-17
lead. Dallas rallied in the second half, though, and ended up
getting the eventual 44-42 win over Sewanee.
For the game, Sewanee was 33% accurate from the field, while
Dallas hit 32% of it's field goals. The Tigers hit five
three-pointers, compared only one for Dallas. The squads were close
on the glass, too, with Sewanee grabbing 34 rebounds and Dallas
nabbing 35.
Senior Bradley Pierson (Rome, Ga., Darlington) led the
Tiger effort with 14 points, taking his 2-game total to 29 for the
season. Sophomore Zack Mulligan (Lynchburg, Va., VES)
led the Sewanee rebounding effort with seven. For Dallas, Peter
Popovich led the scoring drive with 12 points. Hagen Hohlfeld was
also in double digits with 10 points on the day.
Sewanee is 0-2 and will host the Lon Varnell Classic next weekend
with games against Rust College and Mississippi College. Dallas is
now 1-1 so far this season.
