Sewanee Field Hockey Slams Transy

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee jumped out 2-0 on visiting Transylvania on Friday afternoon to set the tone for a 7-1 slam of the Pioneers. Sewanee led 4-1 at the half.

In the first, Taylor Skeen (Baltimore, Md., Towson) and Caroline Carlin (Gladwyne, Penn., Country Day) scored goals before Meghan Lampe netted Transy's only goal. Senior captain Lynn Hancock (Paris, Ky., Foxcroft) scored Sewanee's next two goals to lock down the 4-1 tally at the break.

In the second half, Sewanee added some insurance with a goal by Elise Landau (Wernersville, Pa., Lancaster Country Day) and a pair by Liza Ketcham (Greenwich, Conn., Greenwich) to secure the final 7-1 score in favor of the Tigers.

Clarkie Crawford (Louisville, Ky., Collegiate) had nine saves in goal for Sewanee while Megan Blandford logged 12 for Transy. Sewanee outshot the Pioneers 31-9 on the day and took 11 penalty corners compared to six by Transy.

Sewanee is 6-3 (2-2 SCAC) and will play at DePauw and Centre next weekend in SCAC action.
