Sewanee Takes a 3-1 Hit in SCAC Women's Soccer Play

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Sewanee started off strong in SCAC play Friday, playing to a first half 0-0 draw against Southwestern before the Pirates locked down a 3-1 win before time ran out in the second.

Early in the second, Danielle Madison gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute. Elizabeth Constantine (Nokesville, Va., Madeira) tied it up for Sewanee from a Fritsl Butler (Chattanooga, Tenn., Baylor) assist four minutes later, but Southwestern added tow goals to it's total late in the second half to secure the 3-1 final score.

Virginia Zakas (Atlanta, Ga., Westminster) had six saves in goal on the night, while Eryn Snyder had four for the Pirates. Southwestern outshot Sewanee 19-17. Each team took three corner kicks and committed six fouls.

Sewanee is 6-3-1 and is 4-2 in SCAC play. The Tigers will face Trinity on Sunday. Southwestern is 8-2-1 and is 3-1 in the league. The Pirates will host Oglethorpe on Sunday.
