SEWANEE, Tenn. – Stella Martin scored a goal and added an assist as Sewanee defeated Mount St. Joseph, 2-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Amelia Comeaux was fouled in the box, earning the Tigers a penalty kick with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half. Martin took the penalty and found the back of the net to give Sewanee a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute.

The Tigers held a 6-5 edge in shots during the opening half, including a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Mount St. Joseph earned five corner kicks in the first half, while Sewanee had two.

With just under four minutes remaining in the match, Martin played a ball through the Lions' defense to Pope Scurlock, who sent a shot over the head of the keeper and into the net to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.

Mount St. Joseph finished with a 12-11 edge in shots, while the Tigers held a 5-6 deficit in shots on goal. Emilee Scott made six saves in goal for Sewanee to record the shutout.

The Tigers will head to Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday to face No. 2-ranked Emory University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
