Men's tennis garners ITA All-Academic Team, Nine earn Scholar-Athlete honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's men's tennis team has been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, and nine members of the team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. 

The ITA All-Academic Team award recognizes programs that achieve a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher. To be eligible, all student-athletes must be listed on the institution's eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners are included in the team's cumulative GPA for the academic year.

The ITA Scholar-Athlete award honors student-athletes who maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 during the current academic year while appearing on the institution's eligibility form.

Nine members of the men's tennis team received ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition: Ben Lammert, Andre-Remi Jakobi, Max Verellen, Josh Lively, Sam Schroelucke, Lucas Wrigley, George Thomas Alexander, Henry Hyden, and Charlie Pizzuti.

In 2026, 1,151 Division III Men's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 147 Men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
