Edwards cards a second-round 69; Sewanee men 11th at Capital City Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Senior Colin Edwards carded a two-under 70, and freshman Aidan Tudor added an even-par 72 in the second round as the Sewanee men's golf team finished 11th following 36 holes at the Capital City Classic in Prattville, Ala., on Monday.

Sewanee placed 11th among 18 teams after two rounds of play.

Edwards recorded just five pars over his first 10 holes in the opening round, adding four bogeys and a birdie, before settling in over the final eight holes with two birdies, five pars, and a bogey to finish at two-over 74. He bounced back in the second round, opening with a bogey on hole three before posting 12 pars, four birdies, and just one additional bogey for a two-under 70. Edwards closed his round with nine consecutive pars.

Tudor opened his day with three straight bogeys in the first round but recovered to post just three more bogeys over the final 15 holes, along with two birdies and 10 pars, for a four-over 76. In the second round, he tallied four birdies, four bogeys, and 10 pars to finish even-par 72.

Turner Chiles and Niel Phillips also each opened with rounds of four-over 76. Chiles recorded three bogeys on both the front and back nines, adding two birdies on the back nine. In the second round, he posted two birdies but was offset by five bogeys and a double bogey to finish at five-over 77.

Phillips totaled 11 pars, two birdies, four bogeys, and a double bogey in his opening round. In round two, he opened with a par before carding three straight bogeys. He responded with five birdies over a six-hole stretch, but a triple bogey followed by two bogeys halted his momentum. Phillips finished the round with three pars and two additional bogeys for a five-over 77.

Elias Becker shot a seven-over 79 in the first round, recording 10 pars but adding six bogeys, including a double bogey on his second hole, along with one birdie on his final hole of the round. In the second round, Becker again carded one birdie, this time on the second hole, and delivered a steadier performance with 14 pars and three bogeys to finish at two-over 74.
