SEWANEE, Tenn. – Elizabeth Muller scored twice and Ellen Lewis dished out three assists, but Sewanee fell to Roanoke, 19-6, on Sunday afternoon in women's lacrosse action in Salem, Va., marking the Tigers' second loss of the season.

Muller finished with three shots on goal and a caused turnover, while Lewis added three draw controls. Sally Herrington and Marlin Price each recorded a goal and an assist. Herrington totaled three ground balls and a caused turnover, while Price added two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Ella Townsend led the Tigers with three caused turnovers and four ground balls, and Kennedy Harcourt contributed two draw controls.

Roanoke controlled possession early and opened the game with three unanswered goals. Sally Whitehead put Sewanee on the board at the 11:39 mark of the first quarter off an assist from Sofia Bean, but the Maroons answered 29 seconds later to maintain a three-goal lead.

After a caused turnover from Clara Earley and a ground ball from Mallory Magee, Price converted a feed from Lewis to make it 4-2. Roanoke responded with four straight goals to close the quarter, taking an 8-2 lead and limiting Sewanee's offensive opportunities.

The Maroons extended their run to seven consecutive goals early in the second quarter before Price forced a turnover and assisted Katherine Clark to end the streak with 6:07 remaining. Roanoke added another goal before Herrington found Muller for a man-up score in the final 40 seconds of the half, sending Sewanee into the break trailing 12-4.

In the third, Roanoke added two more goals to push its advantage to 14-4. Lewis won the ensuing draw and connected with Herrington to cut into the deficit, but the Maroons responded again to maintain control. Late in the period, Lewis assisted Muller for Sewanee's second man-up goal, making it 15-6 heading into the fourth.

Roanoke capitalized on penalties in the final quarter, scoring three man-up goals and adding one more in the closing seconds to secure the 19-6 result.

Emma Steffenson and Lilly Jordan split time in goal for Sewanee, with Jordan recording four saves. Kendall Todd and Maddi Barnhorst combined in net for Roanoke, tallying six saves.

Roanoke held a 19-8 advantage in draw controls and limited Sewanee to 19 shots, including 12 on goal. The Maroons converted five free-position opportunities, while the Tigers went 0-for-3.
