SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee loaded the bases in the final inning, stranding all three runners, in a 9-0 loss to Trinity University in the final contest of a three-game series Sunday in softball action in San Antonio, Texas.
Maggie Barker doubled to leadoff the top of the fifth for the Tigers (12-25, 1-14 SAA), breaking up a perfect game by Trinity's Jordan Arce.
Sydney Tackett reached on an error and
Christian Cain walked, loading the bases, but Reagan Huskey and
KK Wadkins both struck out to end the game.
Trinity (23-8-1, 9-3) plated five runs in the first inning and four more in the third, recording 10 hits in the contest. Samantha Tagawa doubled home two runs and Arce hit a three-run inside-the-park homer in the first inning and Mariana Garcia drove in two runs with a double and Hannah Boudreaux plated two more with a triple in the third.
Huskey (7-12) allowed five runs on six hits in two innings and
Abbie Buckner gave up four unearned runs on four hits in two frames. Arce (2-0) walked once and struck out nine in five innings.
Sewanee ends the regular season next weekend with a three-game series at Berry College.
