Tigers record top-10 marks on day one of Lee Fast-Break Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee track and field teams recorded several top-10 program marks and personal bests in competition on Friday afternoon at the.Lee Fast-Break Invitational.

Sophomore Elliott Allen cleared 4.32 meters in the pole vault to place seventh and move to second all-time in program history. Junior Darryl Williams posted a personal-best 1.90 meters in the high jump, improving 10 centimeters and ranking sixth all-time.

In the distance events, freshman Jack Collins ran 15:27.57 in the 5,000 meters to move into third on the program's all-time list. Junior Eleanor Graham also moved to third all-time in the event with a time of 18:43.97. Sophomore Elizabeth Cook recorded a personal-best 5:05.17 in the 1,500 meters, improving to 10th all-time, while senior Sam Ude posted a season-best 5:16.94.

Sophomore Parker Tallman ran 4:14.25 in the men's 1,500 meters. In the 200 meters, sophomore Jacob Heilpern led Sewanee with a time of 23.75, followed by senior Lane Gamble at 23.88.

In the field events, senior Brayden Owens recorded a throw of 34.68 meters in the hammer to move into fifth all-time. Senior Lukus White posted a mark of 13.97 meters in the shot put, a 1.7-meter improvement that ranks seventh all-time. White also competed in the hammer, while senior Gavin Potter led the Tigers in the event with a throw of 36.73 meters.

Senior Erin Graffeo and sophomore Grace Potter each recorded personal-best times in the 200 meters at 29.89 and 30.18, respectively. Potter also posted a mark of 15.66 meters in the javelin.

Sewanee will compete again on Saturday, closing out the two-day Lee Fast-Break Invitational.
