SEWANEE, Tenn. – Manoli Loupassi tallied five goals and an assist, all in the first half, and Robert Freeman added four points with four ground balls as Sewanee defeated Piedmont, 20-6, at McGee Field on Wednesday afternoon in men's lacrosse action.

Loupassi added two ground balls to his afternoon. Sage Cookerly recorded two goals and an assist, while Sam Ramberg, Charles Moran, and Blake Powers each added two goals.

Asa Nischwitz went 13-of-17 from the X with nine ground balls, while Benton Sullivan finished 6-of-11 with one ground ball. Hudson Jones added four ground balls, while Charlie Hanson, JM DuPree, and Tyler Clary recorded two apiece. Clary added two caused turnovers, and Beau Burnett caused two as well.

Flynn Bowman earned the win in goal with five saves, while Jaser Amer played 16 minutes and added five saves. Hayden Regan added a save, and Stutts Everett combined for the final minutes in goal.

The Tigers opened quickly, as Asa Nischwitz won the faceoff and picked up the ground ball before Sage Cookerly connected with Charles Moran for the first goal of the game within the opening 40 seconds. Nischwitz secured the next faceoff and ground ball, and this time Cookerly found the back of the net with an assist from Loupassi.

Nischwitz won his third faceoff in a row, adding another ground ball before Piedmont made a save and controlled possession for the first time in the game. However, Will Kennedy cut the Lions' possession short, causing a turnover, picking up a ground ball, and finding Harrison Fuller for a three-goal lead in the first three minutes.

Piedmont won the ensuing faceoff, but a quick turnover led to another Loupassi goal, this time assisted by Moran.

A one-minute locked-in penalty led to Piedmont's first goal on a man-up opportunity, and the Lions capitalized again before the penalty expired. Kennedy collected his second assist of the game when he fed Blake Powers to break up the Piedmont run. The Lions added another goal to close the first quarter with Sewanee leading, 6-3.

Robert Freeman opened the second quarter quickly for Sewanee with another assist from Kennedy. Freeman added another point on the next play, finding Loupassi open. Loupassi then recorded his fourth goal of the game following another faceoff win and ground ball by Nischwitz.

Beau Burnette caused a turnover and Tyler Clary picked up the ground ball as Kennedy fed Moran for the Tigers' 10th goal.

Another win from the X and a ground ball by Nischwitz led to another Loupassi goal, assisted by Freeman.

Freeman recorded his third assist of the first half when he found Henry Westfall with 3:08 left in the second period.

The Tigers added another quick goal to open the third quarter as Griffin Peterson found Cookerly to push the lead to 10. With 10:20 remaining in the third, Clary caused a turnover, picked up the ground ball, and assisted fellow pole Charlie Hanson for a fast-break goal.

The Lions added another goal with just under eight minutes remaining, and neither team scored again before the end of the third quarter.

Piedmont opened the fourth quarter with a quick goal, but Peterson answered for the Tigers with another score to push the lead back to 10 before Powers added his second goal of the game.

Sewanee claimed the ensuing faceoff due to a violation, and Asher Bowman added a goal. Piedmont responded before Sam Ramberg tallied two back-to-back goals, with Corbet Darden assisting on the second. In the final minute, Peter Gaudion scored Sewanee's 20th goal of the afternoon.

The Tigers will head to Jacksonville, Fla., to face DeSales on Wednesday at Noon ET.
