Wrigley garners SAA Singles Athlete of the Week honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Lucas Wrigley earned his first SAA Athlete of the Week honors for Sewanee's men's tennis team, after putting together a 3-0 record for the week, helping the Tigers defeat two nationally ranked opponents.

Wrigley was undefeated at line six for the Tigers against No. 31-ranked Cal Tech, No. 25-ranked Haverford, and Chapman University. The Ocean Springs, Miss. native defeated Yang of Cal Tech 6-0, 6-3, helping the team to a 4-3 victory. The next day, Wrigley defeated Kumar of Haverford, 7-5, 6-3, to clinch a 5-2 Sewanee victory. To close out the week, Wrigley defeated Ramirez of Chapman 6-1, 6-0 to help Sewanee secure a 4-1 victory.

Sewanee will open conference play at Centre this weekend, on Saturday, and will face DePauw on Sunday morning in Danville, Ky.
