Elias Becker has been named the SAA Athlete of the Week after leading the Tigers at the Tiger Invitational in Pinehurst, N.C.
Becker finished tied for sixth in a 100-player field and helped guide Sewanee to a third-place team finish among 20 teams. The sophomore carded a three-round total of 213 (74-70-69), highlighted by a three-under-par 69 in the final round as the Tigers climbed five spots in the standings on the final day of competition.
In Tuesday's closing round, Becker recorded three birdies and 15 pars to post his best score of the tournament, moving up 12 spots on the leaderboard to secure a top-10 finish.
Across the 54-hole event, Becker also fired a two-under 70 in the second round with five birdies before closing the tournament with his lowest round of the week. His performance helped Sewanee post a two-under 286 team score in the final round, the second-lowest round of the day.
