Tigers fall to No. 23 Mary Washington, 3-4

Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's men's tennis team dropped a tight battle to No. 23 Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon in Fredricksburg, Va., 4-3. 

Drew Rukavina and Ben Lammert picked up a 6-2 win at line two doubles, but the Tigers dropped the doubles point, going into singles down one. 

Asher Wilenborg put Mary Washington up two with a win over Andre-Remi Jakobi at one. The Eagles pushed their lead to 3-0 with a win at line four, before Lucas Wrigley answered for Sewanee, picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win at line five in an hour and 18 minutes, and Max Verellen got the match with one, picking up a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win at six. 

Mary Washington won the match in a third-set tiebreaker at three, as Samuel Schroerlucke dropped a tight three-set battle to John Riordan, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Henry Hyden secured Sewanee's third point of the match just four minutes later with a three-set win of his own at two, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4). 

Sewanee will face Christopher Newport on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET.
