Women's soccer sweeps final Athlete of the Week honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee women's soccer swept the final SAA Athlete of the Week honors of the season, as Pope Scurlock and Eden Maxwell were named the conference's Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Scurlock earned her second Offensive Athlete of the Week honor this season after scoring three goals in three games during the week. Two of her goals were game-winners, bringing her team-leading total to 10 on the season, which ties her for second in the conference. Five of the sophomore's 10 goals have come in conference play, helping the Tigers secure the No. 3 seed in the SAA Tournament.

Defensively, Maxwell earned the first Athlete of the Week honor of her career. The freshman has started all 17 games for the Tigers and played a key role in a defense that recorded two shutouts in three games this week. Maxwell played 244 of the team's 270 minutes during the week, helping limit opponents to just six shots on goal. In addition to her defensive contributions, Maxwell also made an impact offensively, recording an assist against Oglethorpe that gave Sewanee an early 1-0 lead.
