Men's Tennis tabbed second in SAA Preseason Poll

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's men's tennis team was picked to finish second in the Southern Athletic Association preseason poll, as announced by the league's office on Thursday morning. 

Trinity was selected as the 2026 preseason favorite with seven first-place voters for 56 points, while Sewanee had picked up one first-place vote for 49 points. Southwestern totaled 45 points for third place, while Oglethorpe and Rhodes tied for fourth with 34 points. 

The Tigers were ranked 22nd in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings, coming in seven spots behind the Trinity Tigers, who are tied for 14th. 

Sewanee had three players in the round of 16 singles at the ITA South Regional this fall and made it to the NCAA round of 16 last season before falling to No. 6 Emory. 

Trinity also fell in the third round of the NCAA tournament last season to top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. 

The 2026 SAA Men's Tennis Championship is slated for April 24-26 in Memphis, Tenn., at the Leftwich Tennis Center.
