Crane strikes twice as Tigers secure first win under Coach Overstreet

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Catherine Crane delivered in overtime to lift the Sewanee field hockey team to a 2-1 victory at Bridgewater on Sunday, securing both the Tigers' first win of the season and the first career victory for new head coach Haley Overstreet.

Sewanee (1-3) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Catherine Crane tallied her first goal of the day just two minutes into the contest. Shepard Ramsey provided the assist to give the Tigers an early advantage. Bridgewater (0-3) responded minutes later to even the score at 1-1, where it remained through regulation.

Goalkeeper Miriam Hussaini anchored the Sewanee defense, posting four saves while holding the Eagles scoreless over the final 57 minutes of play.

In overtime, Crane delivered the decisive moment, netting her second goal of the match in the 63rd minute to lift the Tigers to the 2-1 win.

Sewanee will return to action on Friday, Sept. 12, with a non-conference matchup against Denison on the road.
