Madilyn Parker posted two hits in the opener and
Ansley Giffin added two in the second game, as Sewanee dropped a pair of games Wednesday in the Ulili Softball Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
SUNY Oneonta plated four runs in the first inning and two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth en route to an 8-1 win in the first game. Emory scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings in a 15-6 victory in the second contest.
Sadie Meachum's RBI single pushed across the Tigers only run in the opener. In the second game
Maggie Barker and Giffin both singled in the fifth and scored on a two-base error off the bat of Sophie Nolan in the fifth inning.
Sewanee added four more runs in the sixth after walks to
Abbie Buckner, Parker and
Hannah Wilson loaded the bases. Buckner came across on a wild pitch and Barker's sacrifice fly scored another.
Christian Cain doubled before an RBI single by Giffin and a groundout from Nolen that added another.
SUNY Oneonta scored four runs in the top of the first in the opener, starting with a leadoff double from Julia Serena and a single by Jaime Cardello. Serena scored on a throwing error and Cardello moved to second on the play.
Emily Brown's single put runners on the corners and Sophia Mangone plated a run with an RBI single. Kayla Kean's two-run double to leftcenter plated two more and the Red Dragons held a 4-0 advantage after a half inning.
The Tigers got on the board in the second inning thanks to a leadoff walk by Giffin and a single by Wilson. Giffin moved to third on a failed pickoff throw and scored on Meachum's single to right, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
In the fourth SUNY Oneonta plated two runs after the first two outs were recorded. Cardello walked and Ava Thys singled to center. Cardello came around to score on the play on an error and Brown followed with an RBI single through the leftside.
In the fifth Kean walked and Maya Nelsen singled before a sacrifice bunt pushed the runners to second and third. Serena plated both runners with a single as well, stretching the Red Dragons lead to 8-1.
Reagen Huskey suffered the loss in the game, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in five innings. She walked four and struck out three.
Madilyn Parker collected two of Sewanee's four hits in the game.
Ana Torgersen posted the win for the Red Dragons, giving up one run on four hits. She walked three and struck out six in five innings of work.
In the second contest Emory scored three runs in the first, five in the second, four in the third and three more in the fourth.
Sewanee finishes action in the Ulili Invitational on Friday with contests against SUNY Oneonta and Puget Sound beginning at 3 p.m. CT.
