Leonard wins high jump; Allen tops pole-vault as Sewanee hosts Tigers Indoor Open

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sam Leonard won the high jump, Elliott Allen won the pole vault, and the women's 4x400 relay team won as Sewanee's track and field teams hosted the Tiger Indoor Open on Saturday, Feb. 1 in the Fowler Center.

On the men's side, Leonard moved himself atop the SAA leaderboards, clearing a mark of 6-4.75. Elliott Allen cleared 13 feet, 1.50 inches in the pole vault to win his second meet of the season.

In other field events, Lukus White placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 40-7.00, while Brayden Owens earned 17th in the weight throw with a mark of 34-8.00.

On the track, Parker Tallman had a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter dash, clocking in at 2:03.33.

On the women's side, the Tigers captured a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as CeCe Cherry, Abigail Armstrong, Livi Burns, and Page Wells clocked in at 4:46.41. Laney Kalsu secured a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 1:03.28.

In the field events, Emory Rhodes placed third in the pole vault, clearing 2.80 meters on her first attempt, followed closely by Wrenna Morris, who also cleared 2.80 meters on her third attempt. Kamilla Haidaienko placed 14th in the weight throw with a distance of 35-9.00 and 18th in the shot put with a throw of 30-5.00.

Rhodes continued to rack in top finishes on the track, placing fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.27 seconds) and 11th in the 200-meter dash (28.94 seconds).

Sewanee will head to Danville, Ky. for the Centre Invitational on Feb. 15 before hosting the Sewanee Invitational in the Fowler Center Fieldhouse on Feb. 22.
