Cleveland’s jumper lifts Sewanee past Bob Jones, 63-62

Hannah Cleveland knocked down the go-ahead jumper with 22 seconds left, as Sewanee's women's basketball team defeated Bob Jones on the road 63-62, inside the Davis Field House. 

Olivia Falvey led the with 19 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Cleveland posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Janie Boyd added 11 points with five steals and four assists, while Eliza Everett added nine rebounds and Sewanee's bench added 15 points. 

Falvey posted seven points early, including a three and two free throws to get withing two before the first media timeout. Bob Jones opened the night hitting four threes in the first quarter, building a 23-15 lead. 

Both defenses held tight in the second half as Everett added four points and seven rebounds before halftime, as the Tigers cut the Bruins lead to four before the break. 

Sewanee came out strong in the third scoring 26 points and scoring the first five points to tie the game. From there, the Tigers took control, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor. Boyd added eight points and two steals, while Falvey and Cleveland added six, building a 47-43 lead heading into the fourth. 

The Tigers continued their streak in the fourth, opening with a 10-2 run, capped by a three from Grace Gavin for a 10-point cushion with six minutes remaining. Bob Jones responded with a 12-1 run of their own, taking back the lead 58-57 with 2:12 to play. The Bruins extended the lead to 62-58 with just over a minute left but Falvey hit a deep three with 42 seconds left to pull the Tigers within one. Boyd registered another steal on the next possession, giving Seanee another chance. With 22 seconds left, Cleveland hit a jumper with an assist from Adison Howard to give the Tigers the lead. The Tigers then collected to defensive stops to maintain the road win. 

The Tigers travel to Covenant on Friday night before returning home for the Sewanee Classic to close out 2025.
